"Click below to find out which restaurants will be giving away* the posters, and the select few of those that will also have the Szechuan Sauce on Oct 7".

But what's also amusing is how this is not a direct Rick and Morty tie-in, so they can only drop winking references to the show by nonspecifically mentioning mad geniuses and portals. McDonald's issued three jars of Szechuan sauce to lucky fans via a contest on Twitter the night Rick and Morty officially returned at the end of July, but didn't have any updates for fans who wanted to get their hands on it. I'm not sure what the word "Szechuan" has to do with outer space, but make sure you go on down to McDonald's to coat your gullet with sauce and to pick up one of these posters and then spend the rest of your life justifying it hanging on your wall to friends and loved ones who will ultimately deem it wiser to cut you out of their lives. That's my series arc Morty!

The Szechuan Sauce originally debuted back in 1998, as part of a tie-in to the Disney movie "Mulan", and rocketed back into the cultural zeitgeist this spring when it was mentioned by Rick during the season premiere of Adult Swim's "Rick and Morty".

"I'll see what I can do", McDonald's corporate chef Mike Haracz tweeted in April. "If it takes nine seasons, I want my McNugget dipping Szechuan Sauce, Morty!".

But it looks like fans won't have to wait that long, as on 7 October, a limited amount of the sauce will be available at select fast food joints across America.

The only small difference is that it'll come with Buttermilk Crispy Tenders instead of its classic Chicken McNuggets, but that's an easy addition if you're particular about your sauce experience. Jars of 19-year old flavor paste (I'm running out of synonyms for "sauce") sold for thousands of dollars on eBay. The Holy Grail of Mickey D's condiments was a punchline way back in April, when Rick & Morty's Season 3 premiere streamed for just 48 hours, starting on April Fool's Day.
