Ryan Giggs: 'Marouane Fellaini repaying Jose Mourinho faith'

The Red Devils midfielder's future at Old Trafford had been cast into doubt after negotiations over a new deal stalled, but Transfer Market Web has stated its belief that a deal has now been struck between the club and Fellaini's advisers.

The Belgian, who has started the new season in excellent form, is out of contract next summer and is said to want a big increase on his current £80,000-a-week contract - something that he thinks reflects on his importance to the team.

But United will likely have to offer £130,000-a-week to convince him to stay.

Giggs explained that that's down to his ability to follow instructions perfectly.

Central to the strategic plan that secured United's Champions League qualification in a 2-0 Europa League Final defeat of Ajax Amsterdam, Fellaini set up Paul Pogba's opener in Stockholm.

However his impact so far this season, especially in the absence of the injured Paul Pogba in central midfield, has silenced many of his critics.

And according to ESPN, the 29-year-old's midfield sidekick, Nemanja Matic, already believes that "he is a great player'".

"I don't know [why Fellaini is underrated], I don't know really".

Mourinho said: "It's easier for Galatasaray to get me than Marouane". The Belgian was particularly grateful for the manager's decision to shield him from widespread criticism after conceding a penalty that cost two points at former club Everton in December. "For Mourinho, I'd break my leg". The Spain global is in the final year of a four-season contract, with United holding an option to extend for one further campaign.
