Odell Beckham will undergo surgery for injured ankle

The 24-year-old is one of the top receivers in the National Football League and scored a touchdown to give the Giants a fourth-quarter lead during their clash with the Los Angeles Chargers. Orleans Darkwa scored on a 23-yard run and the Giants got a safety in scoring their first first-quarter points this season. His injury will indeed require surgery. Beckham was carted off the field Sunday after suffering the injury with about four minutes remaining in the game.

This is how it has all unfolded for a team that entered the season with high expectations and Super Bowl dreams.

In addition to Beckham, receivers Brandon Marshall, Sterling Shepard and Dwayne Harris were all hurt. He was the fourth wide receiver to leave the contest. Ingram would recover, and three plays later, Philip Rivers would connect with running back Melvin Gordon for a game-winning touchdown.

Manning, who was sacked five times, also threw a 29-yard touchdown pass to backup Roger Lewis Jr.in the third quarter.

This all came in a game in which Beckham nearly served as the hero.

Beckham had eight catches for 68 yards before being injured. Nothing appears to be going right.

Beckham's looked particularly worrisome for the Giants, as Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com tweeted, "Odell Beckham just went down awkwardly and the Chargers players immediately called for the sideline".
