Faf du Plessis gets a piggyback off the pitch after injury

South Africa captain Faf du Plessis has been withdrawn from the upcoming two-match T20 worldwide series against Bangladesh due to injury.

South Africa cruised to a 200-run win against Bangladesh in their final one-day global to seal a 3-0 series whitewash. Five of the top six batsmen departed for single-digit scores and it was not until Shakib Al Hasan and Sabbir Rahman came out to bat that Bangladesh had a mentionable partnership forming. The absence of Hashim Amla made little difference as Quinton de Kock and Temba Bavuma shared an opening stand of 119 that set up the Proteas for their best total against Bangladesh of 369/6 and they only lost 12 wickets in the entire series.

It was the biggest margin of victory by runs in a one-day global anywhere for more than a year - since South Africa beat Ireland by 206 runs in September 2016.

Dane Paterson was the pick of the Protea bowlers with 3/44 while Aiden Markram picked up 2/18 and Imran Tahir finished with 2/27.

Markram was run out, a repeat of his test debut when he was run out for 97, and Du Plessis had to be piggy-backed off the field by a teammate. He has been replaced by JP Duminy as skipper in the T20s. AB de Villiers went past 9500 ODI runs in his 20, before a flurry for wickets stemmed the tide somewhat.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz took 2-59 on his return to the Bangladesh team and Taskin Ahmed 2-66.

Du Plessis has been ruled out of the KFC T20 global series next week with JP Duminy taking over the captaincy and Dwaine Pretorius coming in as a replacement player.

Their innings was finally brought to an end with 169 runs on the board and 9.2 overs still remaining, which in turn handed South Africa a very large victory by a margin of 200 runs.
