3 children die from buggy vs vehicle crash

On Sunday morning around 8:34 a.m, a truck and buggy crashed in Evergreen Township, killing three and injuring six - all of whom are from Sheridan.

Police said a truck heading eastbound on Condensary Road in Evergreen Township, southeast of Sheridan, hit the rear of the buggy, which was carrying nine people.

The Daily News reported that the truck and buggy were both traveling on the same road and going in the same direction when the impact occurred.

The collision caused extensive damage to the truck and buggy. A total of 9 people were inside the buggy at the time.

The other six passengers were hospitalized with life-threating injuries.

Paul Martin, 40, was listed in stable condition in a Flint area hospital.

One of the surviving children, an 18-month-old female, has been released from Carson City Hospital.

The investigation ruled out the theory of alcoholic and narcotic intoxication of the driver, he was not injured and is cooperating with law enforcement officials.

It is not now known if there were any seatbelts in the buggy.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, according to Michigan State Police.
