Pulwama encounter: Three terrorists, Army jawan killed in gunbattle

An Army soldier was martyred and a civilian was left injured after an encounter was broke between the security forces and terrorists in Aglar Kandi, Rajpura of Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on Monday.

A joint team of Army's 44 RR, SOG and CRPF following a specific information cordoned off village Kandi Aglar. The identity of the militants were not immediately known.

The J&K police in a tweet late Monday night said that the militants were involved in the sneak attack carried out by them at a naka police party in Pulwama's Rajpora area on Sunday.


He said that as the cordon-and-search operation was initiated, the hiding terrorists resorted to heavy firing at the security forces, triggering a fierce retaliation in which three terrorists were gunned down three. "The exchange of fire between the two sides is going on but there are no casualties reported".

Meanwhile, a civilian was allegedly injured in the clashes near the Pulwama region.

Following the incident, civilian was shifted to the local hospital. Internet services in Pulwama have been withdrawn in view of growing tensions, a report said.
