When Will Jodie Whittaker's First Season of Doctor Who Air?

Doctor Who is a British science-fiction series centered around an alien known as the Time Lord who explores the universe in a time traveling police box, known as TARDIS. In-story, the Doctor has the ability to regenerate after being killed, coming back with a new body. The multiple earrings are just icing on the cake.

Whittaker is the first woman to land the role.

The BBC have shared this scintillating shot of the Thirteenth Doctor across their social media, depicting her atop some pretty idyllic clifftops.

The image gained plenty of reactions on the Doctor Who Facebook page and Twitter, with some decrying it as ugly and ridiculous, while others thought it represented the character well. A deep navy shirt with a ballet neckline is embellished at the bust line with mustard, orange and teal stripes - a little Wesley Crusher-adjacent but more likely a reference to the Fifth Doctor's iconic scarf.

These are important visual distinctions that give us a peek into a Doctor's personality.

It's not gone unnoticed by fans with one saying it "has great elements from previous Doctors".

The Broadchurch star will be joined by Bradley Walsh as Graham, Tosin Cole as Ryan and Mandip Gill as Yasmin, for the next season which is now filming in Cardiff.
