Israel has denied the statement about the downed Russian drone

The agreement, announced in a US-Russian statement Saturday, affirms a call for "the reduction, and ultimate elimination" of foreign fighters from southern Syria. Most dangerously that this admission of the military solution failure will approve the geographical distribution of Syria among various foreign forces (Russia, US, Iran, Turkey).

Israel in September also shot down an Iranian-made drone sent by the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah in the same area. The military existence of Iranians and allies, in this magnitude, is establishing a reality which danger on the region can't be disregarded even more than Israel, which has a massive destructive military force and is an ally of USA that vows to defend it. Both Iranian and Hezbollah forces have been backing Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in the Syrian civil war.

Furthermore, Israel's Minister for Regional Cooperation Tzachi Hanegbi told reporters after the meeting that the truce deal "does not meet Israel's unequivocal demand that there will not be developments that bring the forces of Hezbollah or Iran to the Israel-Syria border in the north". Israel says that it expects any agreement ending the war in Syria to include a 12-mile buffer zone meant to keep away Iranian-backed militants.

With Iranian troops reportedly on Israel's northern border, it's possible that if conflict breaks out in Lebanon, Israeli troops could clash directly with Iranian forces. Moreover, previous Israeli wars against Hezbollah used to be based on the accumulation of weapons at Hezbollah's disposal as well as its deployment, and they used to happen once every 10 years.

Regarding Syria, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned of the new reality saying that "when ISIS is expelled from a place, Iran is replacing it".

The reason is obvious, and it's that the Syrian regime no longer has military capabilities due to its defeats.

A peace agreement is on the cards that will halt the fighting, but it will not address the pernicious influence of Iran and the foreign militias who will control large parts of the country. If it hadn't been for American warnings, Jordan would have been threatened with Iranian militias marching towards its borders from Daraa. The agreement only ends the presence of terrorist groups like ISIS, al-Nusra Front and Ahrar al-Sham but it will fail in ridding Syria of the more risky regional militias.
