Things You Need To Know About The 2019 Corvette ZR1

The first one allows for the highest top speed possible, the ZR1 reaching more than 210 miles per hour (338 kph) - and even featuring the base aero tweaks, this option still has up to 70 percent more downforce than the Z06.

The auto maker says this Corvette is the fastest and most powerful Corvette to date, boasting a supercharged 6.2-liter LT5 V8 engine that produces 755 horsepower and 715 pounds of torque. The result is the production of 755 horsepower and 715 lb-ft of torque.

A 7-speed manual gearbox is standard, with the new 8-speed automatic an option.

With all the power comes issues of cooling, something previous Corvettes have struggled with.

Because of the aero, top speed takes a whack, but Chevrolet claims the new ZR1 will still cruise its way past 338km/h (210mph).

And while the company hasn't disclosed the price tag for the all-new 2019 C7 Corvette ZR1, we can safely assume it will be in the range of $100,000 to $150,000.

The 2019 Corvette ZR1's aggressive appearance is driven by function, contributing to its distinction as the fastest production Corvette to date.

It can do that because it's mounted to the chassis aft of the hatchback opening for strength, which presents the downside of making you lift your groceries up and over the wing to get them in the trunk.

The Corvette is generally thought of as an accessible sports vehicle, but GM refers to the ZR1 as a "Supercar".

This is actually the faster of the two, adding 70 per cent more downforce than the standard ZO6 Corvette. Further, the ZR1 elevates Corvette's track capability with two wind tunnel-honed aerodynamics packages, including an available High Wing that provides an estimated 950 pounds of downforce. The front fascia's design is more than cosmetic; it's created to channel air to four new radiators, bringing the total number of heat exchangers to 13 on the auto.

To add the "High Wing" aero kit, customers must opt for the ZTK Performance Package that includes Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer tires, specially tuned magnetic ride-control and a front splitter with carbon fiber end plates.

In addition, a Sebring Orange Design Package is available which includes orange brake calipers, orange rocker and splitter accent stripes, orange seat belts, orange interior stitching and bronze-aluminium interior trim.
