Selena Gomez goes blonde at AMAs, accused of lip syncing comeback performance

We've been glued to the American Music Awards all day and whilst so many performers blew us away, Selena Gomez had us intrigued with her mystifying performance.

To celebrate the occasion, Gomez stepped onto the red carpet in a Coach leather-jacket minidress and newly-bleached locks. She delivered a haunting performance of "Wolves", her new collaboration with Marshmello, and debuted bright blonde hair on the red carpet - a first for the "Bad Liar" singer.

"She is the epitome of love and strength, and I'm so grateful to get to call this lovely person my friend".

Gomez made her first major public appearance at the AMAs previous year after announcing she was taking time off to deal with issues of depression and anxiety stemming from her battle with lupus. “The girl cant sing live so I dont know why she just cant admit it instead of lip syncing.”.

Another AMAs viewer joked: “Lip sync battle?

"She is the epitome of love and strength", Michaels said about Gomez, "And I'm glad I get to call this handsome person my friend". She took some time off to recover, but "Wolves" marked her big return to the stage.

Several publications have reached out to Selena's team for a comment.

Christina Aguilera paid tribute to Whitney Houston on the 25th anniversary of The Bodyguard with a medley of I Will Always Love You, I Have Nothing and Run To You.

Gomez's knees were faux-scraped and her face also featured fake blood near her hairline.
