After LiAngelo was arrested and released on suspicion of shoplifting in China, Trump was looking for a big ol' thank you, but if anyone is expecting one from LaVar, well, they might be waiting awhile. Ball maintained that he doesn't "have to go around saying thank you to everybody", while launching into one of the most confusing interviews ever.

The LaVar that's actually under the spotlight thanks to the president's tweets has not said anything about the mixup so maybe this could all lead to the exclusive Reading Rainbow x BBB capsule collection of our dreams, just to spite the administration. "Let him do his political affairs and let me handle my son, and let's just stay in our lane". LaVar Ball has refused to thank Trump.

Trump was responding to LaVar Ball's recent interview where he belittled Trump's involvement in getting the UCLA players released following a theft of sunglasses. He tweeted that Ball was "unaccepting" of what he did and said that he should have left the American men in a Chinese jail, proving once and for all that Donald Trump is not only incapable of altruism: He is also the tiniest man alive. Each player thanked Trump and the USA government for their role in assisting the players' return home. "Everybody wants to make it seem like he helped me out".

LiAngelo Ball's father, LaVar Ball, downplayed Trump's role in the situation. The first thing I would say? "He probably got to China by falling through the center of the Earth and popping out the other side". He added that if he was going to thank anyone, it would be Mr Xi. Then I would have said, "thank you Mr. Trump, for taking my boys out of China and bringing them back to the U.S.' There's a lot of room on that plane". And why? Because one of their fathers perpetrated the ultimate crime against Trump - not stroking his ego.

Ball's son, LiAngelo and his UCLA freshmen teammates, Jalen Hill and Cody Riley, have been suspended indefinitely following the arrest.

And Ball knew exactly what to do to get a reaction from Trump.

The trio isn't allowed to suit up, be on the bench for home games or travel with the team.
