Jacksonville police: Wanted teen Logan Mott is in custody

Eric Mott ultimately took an Uber instead to his Neptune Beach home and realized upon returning that his residence had been ransacked and that both his mother and son were missing along with several firearms and French's silver Dodge Dart.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced Friday evening that the United States Customs and Border Patrol stopped a Florida teenager wanted for allegedly killing his grandmother from fleeing the country, reports the Washington Times. When the couple arrived, they learned their Neptune Beach home had been ransacked, the guns missing from the safe.

He said Mott was turned over to Buffalo police, who were coordinating with police in Jacksonville on the teen's return.

Officials said Mott stands 5 feet 9 inches tall, weighs about 120 pounds and has short brown hair and brown eyes.

Logan was reported missing along with his grandmother. A warrant was issued for his arrest Thursday on a charge of auto theft, deputies said.

Kristina French, 53, was reported missing this week along with her 15-year-old grandson, Logan Mott.

Campbell-Mott said she had last spoken to her son on Sunday, November 19 and had last communicated with French on Tuesday, November 21.

"We are alleviated that he is sheltered and in guardianship and we simply request everybody to give us an opportunity to deal with what happened", the high schooler's mom, Carrie Campbell-Mott said in an announcement to Action News Jax. 'No matter what, Logan is our child and we love him... "We need to discover what happened to Kristina and we require time for that to happen".

Campbell-Mott said a sheriff's detective will fly to meet Logan on Saturday. He is now a person of interest in French's death, according to JSO.
