Sticks and Stones: Rap Song Lands Victoria's Secret Angels in Hot Water

A short clip of Victoria's Secret models singing a racist slur has sparked outrage online. Among the welcome surprises this time around was Cardi B, who was nominated for both best rap performance and best rap song for her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, "Bodak Yellow".

One of the lines in the popular song, which the women can be heard singing, is "I don't wanna choose and I'm quick to cut a n***** off".

On Tuesday evening (Nov. 28) the pre-taped Victoria Secret Fashion Show aired on CBS, which meant plenty of behind the scenes moments landed on social media.

'If you're not black, don't say the N word.

The backlash for this incident came just after the fashion show's producers were slammed for airing video of Chinese model Ming Xi falling on stage during her walk.

'The safe one is @DevWindsor, ' the woman tweeted alongside a photo of the blonde model standing still as her colleagues dance around her.

As writer Mikelle Street pointed out on Twitter, most of the models in the video are not black. "Black people can use it as freely as they want".

"I think for white people the experience of being a hip-hop fan and not being able to use the word "ni**a" is actually very insightful", he said. Other big winners included Stormzy (Best Male Act, Best Grime Act, and Best Album for Gang Signs & Prayer), Giggs (Best Hip Hop Act), and Craig David (Best R&B/Soul Act).

Kudos to Rowe and Windsor.
