APC chairman John Odigie-Oyegun congratulates PDP's Uche Secondus

Hours after spitting fire over the elective national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Raymond Dokpesi, who contested and lost the PDP national chairmanship position, has congratulated Uche Secondus, the victor.

Dokpesi, who contested had rejected the results of the votes after Secondus was declared victor.

In its taunting statement, the APC further said, "The abnormalities that trailed the PDP national convention have further exposed the PDP as a party is not ready and willing to change". Coming up a distant second was Professor Adeniran who amassed 230 votes while Chief Raymond Dokpesi brought up the rear with just 66 votes.

Odigie-Oyegun in the statement said he believes that working together with the APC can both elevate the language and temper of politics in Nigeria, thereby providing the enabling environment for democracy to thrive in the country. "Congratulations PDP as I wish all our members the best of luck".

After allegations of induced votes and rejecting the results, Raymond Dokpesi has congratulated Uche Secondus, the victor of the PDP chairmanship election.

Secondus said: "We are all witnesses to how the unity of this country has been shaken to its very foundation under the watch of the ruthless and clueless APC".

He stated: "No more imposition, no more impunity".

At the convention, Prince Uche Secondus from Rivers State emerged as the chairman of the PDP in the early hours of Sunday.

He tweeted, "I congratulate our party's new National Chairman, Uche Secondus and other National Exco members that were elected yesterday".
