Gujarat: Independent MLA declares support to BJP

The meeting expressed its "deep gratitude" to outgoing Congress president Sonia Gandhi for her guidance and leadership.# Most members condemned Modi for insinuating that former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and former Vice-President Hamid Ansari had conspired with a Pakistani delegation to influence the election. After conducting the CWC meeting, the Congress president lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by saying whole architecture of BJP is all about lies.

Gandhi's remarks come in the wake of the 2G spectrum allocation case court verdict on Thursday and the Adarsh Society case order passed by the Bombay High Court on Friday. Mr. Maken said the BJP and their allies had "whipped up the 2G case to defame the Congress" but the court verdict has "bared the lies" of the BJP. "What is going on is the stealing of resources that belong to the people of Gujarat and that's their design.whether it is 15 lakh rupees in every account, whether it is 2G, whether it is the Modi model. One by one the lies are coming out". When we went to Gujarat and spoke to people they said there is no (Gujarat) model.

"During Gujarat elections, it seemed like the Congress leaders and the BJP leaders were not campaigning for elections but were trying to visit the maximum number of temples".

The alleged scam relates to the granting of 2G spectrum licences in 2007-08, which caused, according to a report by the then Comptroller and Auditor General of India, a loss of Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the public exchequer.

Whatever Mr Gandhi might say, his party will not return to power as people know its corrupt face, Mr Rao added. While addressing the media after the meet, Rahul said it was disappointing that the party lost in Gujarat but he was pleased to see that the Congress fought hatred and anger with respect, love and courage.

It was among the major corruption scandals that came to light during the second term of the UPA government headed by former prime minister Manmohan Singh.
