James Harrison Reportedly Visiting With Patriots

Veteran linebacker #James Harrison finally got his wish when he was signed by the #New England Patriots, days after he was released by the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Patriots have a need, Harrison has played in big games, and there are big games ahead - possibly against Harrison's former team, the Steelers.

The team had not announced any transactions Tuesday as of 5 p.m. ET. Despite that, there was speculation that Harrison would end up back in Pittsburgh after he cleared waivers on Monday. To make room for Harrison, the Patriots released linebacker Trevor Reilly.

In a corresponding move, the Steelers activated offensive starting Marcus Gilbert, who missed the previous four games while serving a suspension for violating the league's policy on performance enhancing substances. Brady is 40 years old while Harrison is younger by just one year. Should both teams reach the conference championship game in January, Harrison could face his former team in Pittsburgh.

It could set up a postseason match-up between Harrison and the Steelers.

The Steelers and Patriots each secured a bye through to the divisional round, though New England can clinch home-field advantage throughout the AFC playoffs with a win over the Jets in their regular-season finale on Sunday.

Alber Breer reports that Harrison's new deal with New England is just for 2017. He'll now have a chance to chase his third Super Bowl ring with a new team.
