The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin. Wind Chill Advisory in effect through Tuesday evening for all counties in our area, Warning for Coles, Douglas and Edgar Counties. Wind chills today are expected to be dangerously cold through the rest of the day and again overnight into Tuesday morning.

It goes back to being very cold on Friday in the low 20s and it will be mostly sunny.

"You can expect wind chills at -10 to -20", said WJZ's Meg McNamara.

Temperatures are finally expected to warm up by early next week. Temperatures during the afternoon reach the lower 20s, so wind chill values feel like the teens. Limit your exposure to the cold by wearing heavier lined coats, hats, and gloves. Havre, in north-central Montana, tied its record low for January 1.at minus 32 degrees. Clear and cold tomorrow night with low temps in the single digits to low teens and a negative wind chill.

Impressive December cold outbreak: It's not hard to quantify how anomalously long and potent the almost nationwide cold spell has been over the past week.
