Apple acquires Canadian app development service Buddybuild

In simple words, Buddybuild offers tools for developers that are created to let them quickly and easily build apps through GitHub, BitBucket, or GitLab.

"We're excited to share that the buddybuild team has joined the Xcode engineering group at Apple to build fantastic developer tools for the entire iOS community", buddybuild said in a blog post on Wednesday. It celebrated that fact by noting that it's a proud Canadian company.

However, the company didn't disclose any financial terms.

Apple App Store now offers users close to 2,000 ARKit-enabled apps across various categories like games, shopping, education, social media, and more.

Apple redesigned the App Store over the past year and has made other changes, including adding search advertising, improving developer tools and introducing new ways for third-party apps to make money. As to when it will happen, both companies did not give a specific timeline. The startup provides app developers a single platform to code for big projects. This is not the first time Apple has dealt a blow to the Android development community, either. On paper, at least, Buddybuild would add to what TestFlight now offers with a deeper range of developer options and support for app developers covering Apple's range of mobile operating systems.

With this acquisition, developers will find it easier to develop and iterate their apps for iOS. Exclusively accessible to iOS 11-compatible devices, the AR+ mode takes advantage of Apple's ARKit which offers players a more authentic experience in playing the game like walking closely to the creature and see how they look like in real world.

Many Industry experts continue to argued that since IOS is a closed operating system, it won't exactly dominate the app market like Android, which is an open source operating system.

In 2014, Apple, in a similar move, had acquired Burstly, the owner of mobile app testing platform, Testflight.

Apple is on track to double Services revenues of $24 billion in fiscal 2016 by 2020. Moreover, customers spent more than $890 million in the App Store during the week which began on Christmas Eve.

Apple has been undertaking a lot of initiatives to make the platform more attractive to developers. It also makes sure that its tools are filled with new features and tools so that they are easier for developers to use.
