Actor George Clooney, Nobel peace laureate Malala Yousafzai, actress Tina Fey, shock jock Howard Stern and rap superstar Jay-Z complete the lineup.

Netflix announced Friday that Letterman's return to television will begin streaming on January 12 with the 60-minute episode featuring Obama's first talk-show appearance since leaving office. It will also be Letterman's first televised interview after retiring as host of the CBS' The Late Show in 2015.

Letterman's interview with Obama will mark the former president's first television talk show appearance since he left office in January previous year.

"I had a show for a long time", Letterman said in his new show's trailer. The interview will be among the few Obama has given since leaving office early past year.

"And then the first day of Stephen's show, when he went on the air, an energy left me and I felt like, 'You know, that's not my problem anymore, '" Letterman told NBC's Tom Brokaw in 2016. In each hour-long episode Letterman will have a long-form conversation with the guest across a range of topics.

His return to television for Netflix was announced in August 2017, when the quick-witted host said that Pope Francis and President Donald Trump would be top of his wish-list for the series. Netflix's chief content officer Ted Sarandos told Variety that the company wants to increase its original offerings until they make up half of the service's entire library. Barack Obama was recently seen in a sit-down interview with Prince Harry for BBC.
