ESPN's Katie Nolan Calls Donald Trump A 'F*cking Stupid Person'

ESPN's Katie Nolan has ignited some controversy after comment made on Viceland's late-night comedy show "Desus & Mero" on Thursday night. As Sporting News reports, one of the hosts claimed the "thumbs up" gesture is seen by some as advocating "white power".

The sports network said it addressed the matter with Nolan, but it will not punish her beyond that, TMZ reported Friday.

The diss came during a discussion about hand gestures associated with white supremacists. with Katie saying Trump uses the thumbs-up emoji simply because he's "stupid".

Nolan was likely spared suspension because her comment was made on a talk show, not via social media. She then catches herself, apparently realizing she's said something she should not have, and says "That's because he's a f-ing stupid person".

In October, before the new guidelines were released, ESPN suspended "SportsCenter" personality Jemele Hill for what the network deemed a second recent violation of its former social media policy.

Nolan began working at ESPN in mid-October after a four-year stint at Fox Sports. She was suspended a month later for violating the network's social media policy after tweets about Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

ESPN says in a statement Saturday that it "looked into the totality of Nolan's comments".

While some people may be offended by the nature of Nolan's comments, it's unlikely that she will face any severe punishment due to the platform and tone of the appearance. Her new podcast for ESPN is expected to launch on January 10.
