Trump Appears To Forget The Words To The National Anthem

Zac Brown Band took the field in Atlanta Monday night (Jan. 8) to sing the national anthem before the College Football Playoff National Championship.

The game, won by Alabama in overtime, featured a number of future NFL players - a group of people that Trump has clashed with over kneeling protests during the national anthem.

And given the president's strong stance on the national anthem, it's no surprise that his critics pounced.

"Trump being down on the field, walking out with the troops, singing along with the National Anthem with such pride, is the very definition of Pro-America".

But when it was time to place hand on heart and belt out the famous song, Trump seems to have forgotten the words.

President Trump is the oldest person to be elected president in US history, and his memory has often been called into question.

The president was reportedly greeted with a mixture of cheers and boos while taking the field. Hmm. well, that's one way to show respect, I guess.

Pool reporters traveling with the president said he mouthed what appeared to be some of the words to "The Star-Spangled Banner", but they could not tell exactly what he was saying or singing. He renewed the attack earlier Monday on Twitter.

"We want our flag respected", Trump told the annual gathering of the American Farm Bureau Federation in Nashville. He later denied the comment.

The mixed reception could be a worry for the White House, coming deep in Trump country in a contest watched by fans from two nominally Republican states.

Some Twitter users cried hypocrisy against Trump for his tweets against players taking a knee and Colin Kaepernick but found it totally ridiculous when it appeared that Trump was rambling his way through "The Star-Spangled Banner".
