NFL Announces 2018 London Schedule

But as of right now, it looks like the National Football League is sending six potential playoff contenders to London for the three games there. The league will announce the full 2018 schedule in April.

The Cowboys are another global brand that rivals the Raiders for the distinction of being the NFL's most widely known and followed franchise, yet they are not traveling internationally to host games yearly.

The Ravens, who finished the 2017 season with a 9-7 record and out of the playoffs for the third consecutive year, already know their opponents for 2018.

The game will take place on October 14 at English Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium during Week 6.

Let's just hope that the Raiders versus Seahawks game in Week 6 doesn't begin at the crack of dawn on the West Coast. Mexico City has also hosted a game each of the past two seasons.

The game will be the Chargers second regular-season game outside the U.S. They lost to the New Orleans Saints, 37-32, October 26, 2008, at Wembley Stadium.

Both games will be home games for the Chargers, meaning they will play seven regular-season games at StubHub Center instead of the customary eight in both seasons. Seattle was one of six franchises that have yet to pull worldwide duty, but will remedy that against their former AFC West rivals at a new stadium (seats 61,559, still under construction) that will serve as home for the Premier League's Tottenham Hotspur.

Kickoff time has not been announced.

Some meaningful football could be played across the pond in 2018. The 27-27 draw, the last of three games played in London that year, barely warranted mention in London's major newspapers. Two will be staged at Wembley following the first game which will be played at Tottenham Hotspur's new 61,000-seat stadium. "Once again, London has shown why it is the sporting capital of the world and open to the very best sports events".

The NFL's success in London is directly tied to the Northumberland Development Project.

The Dolphins have played in London in three of the last four years.

The NFL has typically has teams arrive in London around Thursday before the Sunday game, then go on a bye week following the game in England.

And despite a relatively tight development time for the £750million ground, it looks as though Spurs' new home will be ready for the start of the 2018-19 campaign. Since 2013, the Jaguars have been involved in the NFL London series every season.

'The NFL will bring a whole new audience to the local area, showcase Tottenham and bring further economic and social benefits with truly global coverage and attraction'.

From 1994 to 1999, the Chargers played three preseason games as part of the NFL's American Bowl series, against the New York Giants in Berlin in 1994, the Pittsburgh Steelers in Tokyo in 1996 and the Denver Broncos in Sydney, Australia, in 1999. The NFL won't want to force new ownership to sacrifice home-game revenue so early in its tenure.
