Honda Accord wins vehicle of the Year

The Honda Ridgeline was crowned truck of the year last year, and the Honda Civic won vehicle of the year in 2016.

The award for the 2018 vehicle of the year went to the Honda Accord, the Lincoln Navigator was named truck of the year, and the Volvo XC60 won utility of the year at the North American International Auto Show on Monday. The three awards were presented at the Detroit Auto Show. It will go on sale early this year, Honda News reported.

The brand sold only 10,523 Navigators previous year, far behind competitors in the segment such as the Cadillac Escalade.

Last year's winners were the Chevrolet Bolt, Honda Ridgeline and Chrysler Pacifica minivan. This year is also the first time that Lincoln has ever received the award.

The judging panel considered a variety of attributes to determine the winners, including innovation, design, safety, performance, technology, driver satisfaction and value.

Sixty automotive journalists serve as judges.
