The Patriots offensive coordinator is expected to take a head coaching gig with the Indianapolis Colts, which would be his second foray into that world.

McDaniels did not want to talk about his rumored job in Indy after New England's 41-33 loss on Sunday night. He's won five Super Bowls with the Patriots, with the last two being as their offensive coordinator.

Since their loss in Super Bowl LII to the Philadelphia Eagles marks the end of the season and the beginning of the offseason, the Colts are now free to make that announcement.

McDaniels' previous head coaching stint saw him lead the Denver Broncos to an 8-8 season in 2008, before he was sacked in the next campaign with Denver 3-9.

For Patriots fans this is much of the same, a close heart attacks Super Bowl against an opponent that forces QB Tom Brady to attempt another hall of fame worthy comeback.

There is a slight chance McDaniels might pull out of the running for the Colts job, which explains Pats receiver Danny Amendola's answer about losing his offensive coordinator. Obviously, those rumors proved to be false with the Colts announcing his hiring on Tuesday.

Jerry Schuplinski began his coaching career as a high school head coach, then spent six seasons as the special teams coordinator and linebackers coach in college at Case Western Reserve.

A lot of McDaniels' success relies on what the future holds for Andrew Luck. It was built by Bill Belichick: Mike Vrabel of the Titans played under the Patriots coach, McDaniels (Colts) and Bill O'Brien (Texans) were both offensive coordinators for New England and Belichick gave a glowing recommendation for the Jaguars to hire Doug Marrone. King also noted that the Patriots expect McDaniels to leave.
