He bestowed more than a hundred thousand dollars in checks on a number of establishments in Miami while filming his music video for latest release "God's Plan", which is now at the top of the Spotify and Billboard charts.

MIAMI-Drake had no trouble drawing crowds as he visited Miami to shoot a music video.

Drake has gone on an altruistic spending spree, writing big checks for women's shelters, scholarships and even grocery shoppers in Miami. Later on Tuesday, he entered the Sabor Tropical Supermarket with a film crew and used a megaphone to announce that he would be paying for everybody's shopping.

He also surprised University of Miami student Destiny James with a scholarship for $50,000, after she said she wrote an essay applying for scholarships a year ago.

Rapper Drake brightened the days of many Miami students on Monday. One of his gifts was a $50,000 donation to Lotus Women's Shelter, an organization that provides sanctuary, support, education, tools and resources that empower homeless women, youth and children.

WPLG-TV-TV said Drake left the high school students with a positive message, saying, "I hope you go on to do incredible things". "Be good and it'll come right back around!" James added. "God I thank you".

A fan posted a brief video of the touching moment, along with throngs of students running and waiting to catch a glimpse of the superstar. When James was applying for scholarships previous year, she wrote an essay about her life and the tribulations that she has had to overcome in order to succeed. Thank you for blessing me when I thought my hard work was going unnoticed.
