Cavs revamp roster at trading deadline hoping LeBron stays

Thomas was acquired from the Celtics in August in the bigger deal for Kyrie Irving, who had said he wanted out of Cleveland. He missed seven games earlier this season with a sore left ankle.

So, the Cavaliers have successfully eradicated everything they could from that trade with the Boston Celtics, and have completely transformed this team.

Nonetheless, Hood gives the Cavaliers another perimeter player who can space the floor for and provide some playmaking as the lead ball handler when needed.

"The small little doses that I was able to play with Jae and IT, I wish it could have been better than it was", James said.

Did Cavs really improve at trade deadline? Cleveland was the story Thursday.

The Cavaliers sent Thomas, Channing Frye and a protected first-round pick to the Lakers in exchange for Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson.

All that wheeling-and-dealing stole headlines even with almost two-thirds of the league making deals.

After making the moves in "NBA 2K18", the Cavs' terrible defense has somehow only gotten worse. Isaiah Thomas and Channing Frye are basically expiring contracts.

"We wanted to be patient and we wanted to see this thing work out", Altman said.

Cleveland also shipped Dwyane Wade to the Miami Heat, sources told ESPN.

The Cavs also offloaded two draft picks.

Western Conference guard (shortly after Cleveland's flurry of moves): "That was CRAZZZYYY".

The one player the Hawks were supposed to trade - Marco Belinelli - didn't go anywhere.

The Cavs had to surrender a 2018 first-round pick to the Los Angeles Lakers in the Clarkson/Nance deal, but it should be in the mid-20s.

Nance was a boost to the Lakers' defense, improving his team's defensive rating by nearly two points when playing his 22 minutes per game.

LeBron James will be thrilled to play alongside Kawhi Leonard, and they will create the best duo in the league. He also held spot-up shooters to less than a point per attempt and would immediately become the best defender on the Cavs against this play type.

Nance is averaging 6.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.2 steals per game over his 168-game National Basketball Association career.

Thomas is a great player but it is not clicking with their style of play.

There were some teams that didn't want to wait and did some tinkering Thursday. It also helps that Hill has spent most of his career playing alongside an All-Star in the backcourt, such as Paul George in IN and Gordon Hayward in Utah.

The Warriors stayed put at the deadline, as did contenders Houston and Oklahoma City.

The subject of what would have been a blockbuster trade involving Los Angeles Clippers center, DeAndre Jordan, Thompson can now focus on being the Cavs defensive anchor at center.

But things were far from boring. But I wasn't sure he was even capable of rescuing the previous version of the Cavaliers.
