New York Attorney General sues Harvey Weinstein and The Weinstein Company

Schneiderman's lawsuit alleges numerous instances of alleged harassment by Weinstein, including claims that multiple groups of Weinstein Company employees were responsible for facilitating Harvey's sexual encounters.

Eric Schneiderman filed the civil rights suit against the Weinstein Company, claiming it repeatedly broke NY law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation and discrimination.

Schneiderman said in a statement that any sale of The Weinstein Company must ensure that victims will be compensated.

"As alleged in our complaint, The Weinstein Company repeatedly broke NY law by failing to protect its employees from pervasive sexual harassment, intimidation and discrimination", said Schneiderman. And Schneiderman notes that a sale could mean a windfall for those responsible for any misconduct.

In the new suit, Weinstein is accused of telling several employees, "I will kill you", "I will kill your family" and "You don't know what I can do". He also asserted that he had contacts within the Secret Service who could take care of problems for him. The suit references the Weinstein Company's COO, but does not use Glasser's name. She told the New York Times Weinstein tried to push her down and shove himself on top of her and attempted to expose himself.

The suit comes after a four-month investigation by the Attorney General's office into mounting allegations against Weinstein and The Weinstein Company.

A Weinstein attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
