Smartphone and electronics company Xiaomi today unveiled its newest product category in India - the 55-inch Mi TV 4, a Smart LED TV. The launch of the latest smartphones in the Redmi Note series comes after the company launched the Redmi Note 4 a year ago which became the No. 1 selling smartphone in the country in its price range. The smartphones are the first from the Chinese OEM's inventory in India to flaunt 18:9 display.

In fact, the Redmi Note 5 Pro will become the first smartphone globally to debut the Snapdragon 636 SoC. As far as price is concerned, Redmi Note 5 price in India may start from roughly around Rs 15,400), NDTV Gadgets reported. It offers 4GB/6GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 64GB of internal storage. The TV will be available through Flipkart and Mi.com online and across retail partners for INR39,999 (€503/$623). The smartphones that were launched are Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro. Once again the Fingerprint sensor is placed on the back. More on that later.

■What differentiates the Redmi Note 5 from the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the performance and camera hardware. The Redmi Note 5 bestows a 5.99-inch display with 18:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass protection offering 12.5% more screen real estate.

The company retained the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC that was used by the Redmi Note 4 on the Redmi Note 5 as well. The former will be available at Rs9,999 (3GB plus 32GB) and Rs11,999 (4GB plus 64GB), while the latter is priced at Rs13,999 (4GB plus 64GB) and Rs16,999 (6GB plus 64GB). It packs a 4,000 mAh Battery with Fast Charging. Coming to the pricing, the Redmi Note 5 Pro with 4GB and 6GB RAM is priced at Rs. 13,999 and Rs. 16,999 respectively. Xiaomi claims this is the world's thinnest LED TV, though the stand design means you won't be able to place it flush against a wall.

In India, the Note 5's price ranges from 9,999 Indian rupees (P8,131.22)* for the base version to 11,999 rupees (P9757.62) for the version packing 4GB version and 64GB of storage. For selfies, it comes with a 5 Megapixel front camera with LED flash. Mi TV 4 is the company's most advanced smart TV till date. For the consumers, who are not a fan of wall-hung televisions, the Mi TV 4 is bundled with an aluminum stand. The introductory offer is valid for the customers who buy the Mi TV 4 within the next three months.
