Bellwood Mayor Andre Harvey said he believed the parents were picking up their son before spring break.

The Mount Pleasant police and Isabella County Sheriff's Department were assisting university police, officials said.

"I am heartbroken for the victims and praying for the safety of Mount Pleasant and @CMUniversity community as first responders work to apprehend the shooter", he tweeted.

"Mr. Davis was very vague".

He ran to the officer and said someone was out to hurt him.

A MI college student accused of killing his parents at a campus residence hall was arrested early Saturday after a almost daylong manhunt.

The officers called his parents and then took him to a local hospital, Yeagley said.

Both parents and police were concerned drug use may have been involved in his behavior. He said officers investigated and interviewed a person Davis Jr. had claimed threatened him but "found no risk". Davis was hospitalized. He remains in the hospital as of Saturday morning.

"He stayed until the following morning when he was picked up by his parents and came back to Campbell Hall".

A few hours later, around 1:15 a.m., as the police officer was dealing with another issue in the dorm room, he saw Davis with bags and suitcases.

The shooting happened just before 9 a.m. Friday on the fourth floor of Campbell Hall, a residential tower.

Yeagley also revealed that campus police officers had encountered Davis multiple times in the 24-hours leading up to Friday's shooting.

Davis was last seen wearing mustard-colored jeans and a blue hoodie, although police said Friday afternoon they had found clothing along the railroad tracks where Davis had fled. He was taken into custody without incident. Yeagley said he was appeared to be hypothermic and was not making sense, so police transported him to the hospital.

Students spent hours locked down in classrooms and dormitories while armed police searched Central Michigan University.

19, was identified as a suspect in what authorities said was a family-related domestic dispute. More than 100 officers from various agencies searched into the night for him.

Mt. Pleasant schools were also put on lockdown as well as City buildings.

Central Michigan University was established in 1892, and is one of the largest universities in the state. All planned campus events have been canceled until further notice, as well as scheduled Saturday classes. Yeagley said Davis Jr. had not been previously identified by campus officials as someone that others on campus were concerned about.

The Governor of Michigan Rick Snyder wrote in Twitter that is constantly in touch with the state police, which keeps him in the loop.
