Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints Reportedly Agree To $50M Deal

It was hard to imagine Drew Brees moving on from the Saints, but that didn't stop other National Football League teams from trying to pull the veteran quarterback away from New Orleans.

The Saints have kept that possibility on the table after inking a new two-year, $50 million deal with All-Pro quarterback Drew Brees on Tuesday morning. It's really no sweat for New Orleans, though. But a deal had been expected in February and the two sides were unable to quickly complete a contract after Tom Condon, Brees' agent, met with the Saints at the NFL Scouting Combine.

"But for me, this was about putting our team in the best position to go win a championship in the next few years. That's the outlook I'm taking, and I think that's the outlook that our entire team is taking". He has 58,097 passing yards and 408 touchdowns with the Saints and is likely to become the NFL's all-time passing yards leader at some point in the 2018 season.

"I've never had a chance to hear that, except for when I was hurt back in 2006".

In his career, Brees has thrown for more than 70,000 yards and almost 500 touchdowns.

"I love my team and am excited about the opportunity we will have together", Brees said.

Brees started his career with the San Diego Chargers but it is with the Saints that he made his mark. Do you continue to approach the game with the same sense of urgency. the same commitment to constantly improving and being coachable? There have already been several teams that have reached out to express their interest in his services, which includes potentially returning to the New Orleans Saints.
