Disneyland to feature Marvel superheroes in rides, live show

In the United States, the Disneyland Resort will have a new superhero-themed land, as Disney is calling it, and it is set to open sometime in 2020. The Disney Parks Blog touts this development as "a completely immersive Super Hero universe", which will be built around the existing popular ride Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT! at the California Adventure park.

Highly anticipated new experiences at Disneyland Resort, Disneyland Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland will soon invite guests to become part of a bigger universe filled with epic heroes and adventures, and today we're sharing a sneak peek!

Disney acquired Marvel in 2009 and has been adding Marvel-themed attractions to some of its parks since. They'll be in addition to the "Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout!" ride that took over the park's Tower of Terror ride in 2017. The land will replace what is now "a bug's land" - "It's Tough to Be a Bug" closed on March 19 and the remainder of the land will close late this summer to allow for construction to begin. It will join the park's previous Iron Man Experience, which opened in 2017.

Fanboys and fangirls will get to revel in three new areas at three different parks.

In Paris, a new attraction will allow guests to team up with Iron Man and other Avengers on a "hyper-kinetic adventure in 2020", according to Disney.

This will come after the launch of a new experience this summer, when Disneyland Paris hosts the Marvel Summer of Super Heroes from June 10-Sept. 30.

Similar plans for expansion are in the works at Hong Kong Disneyland, with a new themed area featuring an attraction in which visitors team up with Ant-Man and The Wasp.
