The 2018 Santa Clarita Eggstravaganza Easter Egg Hunt brought thousands of children together to gather thousands of eggs.

"It's something we see every year", said Anita Kapuscinska of the Montreal SPCA.

Community organizations and churches across Linn and Benton counties hosted Easter egg hunts Saturday. Hewitt said that not many people knew what was going on when they got there.

"We hope that they take away the spirit of Easter, number one, and we like to brighten up their little Easter holiday weekend in the form of prizes, and eggs, and prized eggs, and so forth", he said.

"I am so amazed with the Krewe of St. Andrews".

Regarding the egg hunt, Leon said, "It's over in two seconds".

"I'm glad to be here", she said.

Tanguay and Ross said their favorite part of the event was the food, rather than the egg hunting.

In Melbourne, the Easter egg hunt went off with out a hitch at Werribee Mansion.

It estimates about 400 kids showed up and Patterson said the event has grown each year, leaving smiles on the kids' faces as big as their baskets.

"The city is here to help all types of people and anybody with special needs isn't so different who are not special needs", said resident Richard Linck.

"You just have to come down meet the pet that you're interested in and take them home", said Aguilar.

Over the last few years Students Performing on Tough Situations (SPOTS) members Kayla Adema, Hannah Larson, Makaila Schewe, Hailey Schewe, Josie Ringhofer, Saige Wilfahrt, Gianna Fortwengler and Nick Schultz volunteered their times to play costumed characters at the event. They started setting it up at 7 a.m., and by 8:30 a.m., all the eggs had been placed on the cool, bright green grass.

Mike and Erica DeAngelo, Hanover Township, and their children, Bella, 1, and Luca, 3, were enjoying the good weather and a chance to spend some time outside.

Carpenter said the dyeing process can be a lot of work, but that he's happy to put in the hours to be part of it.
