Amazon Key Home Kit availability expands nationwide, and it's now on sale

If you have a multi-room set of Amazon Echo hardware, let us know in the comments if you can get this new feature working!

With smart lamps not yet the staple of the home Alexa and Google Home devices have become, Amazon hopes to encourage more 3 party companies to create voice-controlled lamps through a newly released design reference. You can also say "Alexa, broadcast", and again, tack on your voice message at the end.

Users can have Alexa broadcast something by ordering it to "announce that...", "tell everyone that...", or "broadcast..." Amazon Key's key features, like guest access and remote unlocking, are now rolling out to all Amazon customers in the USA, pushing the company's ambitions in the smart home security market forward. All other Echo devices in a home will then repeat what was said.

While this isn't a something very meaningful considering the way in which Alexa works, it would make the user-Alexa interactions less verbal and straightforward. Announcements allow you to easily make proclamations across almost any Echo device in your home. So be sure to take note of your current settings before you opt in for new features.

Amazon has started rolling out the "Announcements" feature today in the US and Canada, and will likely introduce it worldwide later in the year. For instance, if you say "Alexa, announce that dinner is ready", the voice assistant will repeat that through all connected Echo speakers.

Which is the Alexa Skill you find most useful?

Unfortunately, Brits won't be able to bark out those commands just yet.
