In an excerpt shown on Saturday, Mr Comey says his belief that Hillary Clinton would win the 2016 presidential election was a factor in his decision to disclose the investigation into her emails.

"Wasn't the decision to reveal influenced by your assumption that Hillary Clinton was going to win, and your concern that, she wins, this comes out several weeks later and then that's taken by her opponents as a sign that she's an illegitimate president?", Stephanopoulos asks.

The FBI reopened the investigation into Clinton's use of a private email server on October 28, 2016, after investigators found classified emails sent to top aide Huma Abedin on husband Anthony Weiner's computer. Just another of his many lies.

He questioned Comey's intelligence and place in history, writing, "Slippery James Comey, a man who always ends up badly and out of whack (he is not smart!), will go down as the WORST FBI Director in history, by far!" There is no indication Comey is under investigation for doing either.

Comey, whose "A Higher Loyalty: Truth, Lies and Leadership" comes out Tuesday, worked at the Federal Bureau of Investigation for three presidents - George W. Bush, Barack Obama and Donald Trump. That helped Trump and hurt Clinton, not the other way around.

The commander-in-chief has stamped Comey as a "LEAKER & LIAR", ahead of his highly anticipated tome, which hits shelves Tuesday.

As a warm up to the joint missile attack on Syria, President Trump and Sarah Huckabee launched verbal missiles at James Comey and his new memoir.

He said: "I was operating in a world where Hillary Clinton was going to beat Donald Trump, and so I'm sure that it was a factor".

A little after 9 a.m. Sunday, Trump returned his focus to Comey.

During the summer of the 2016 campaign, Lynch met with former President Bill Clinton on a tarmac while the email investigation was still underway.

House Republicans have repeatedly threatened to hold Justice Department officials in contempt as they have sought more than a million pages in documents related to Democrat Hillary Clinton and the beginning of the department's Russian Federation investigation. "This is nothing more than a poorly executed PR stunt by Comey to desperately rehabilitate his tattered reputation and enrich his own bank account by peddling a book that belongs in the bargain bin of the fiction section", she said.

Third, Trump gets into his claim that there's a partisan conspiracy working against him - claiming former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe is corrupt, and that this is all somehow actually Hillary Clinton's fault.

The president's tweets - which also targeted Loretta Lynch, the attorney general under Trump's predecessor Barack Obama - came hours before a lengthy interview with the ex-FBI head was to air on ABC Sunday night.
