Windows 10's Timeline feature is coming to Android

At Build 2018 today, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella unveiled Project Kinect for Azure.

The recently launched Timeline experience on Windows 10will also support Microsoft Edge browser users on iOS. The service can identify issues through visual imagery, making it possible for drone photography or images from industrial equipment to be analyzed on the edge for quick response to critical issues.

While Microsoft has moved away from Windows as an operating system for smartphones, the company is now focused on enabling users to more easily interact between Windows PCs and their iOS or Android device. Microsoft says that Project Kinect combines its hardware technology with its cloud offering's AI to offer developers new solutions.

During its Build 2018 developer conference today, Microsoft revealed that it is partnering up with the world's largest drone maker, DJI.

Microsoft also said that it will be releasing updates to its Azure Cognitive Services and the Bot Framework.


Facebook had its F8 developers' gathering last week. "DJI is the leader in commercial drone technology, and Microsoft Azure is the preferred cloud for commercial businesses". Office 365 has been a monumental success for the company and they would like Microsoft 365 to follow that same path but the road ahead has many more bumps and fewer monetization options when compared to Office. Moreover, Microsoft will also live stream the Day 1 and Day 2 speeches from the event at Channel 9 Website.

New Azure Machine Learning and JavaScript custom functions that let developers and organizations create their own powerful additions to the Excel catalog of formulas.

Other than that, Microsoft will also support promising projects by providing access to the company's engineers for consultation as well as its technologies. Build 2017 then went on to explore how the cloud can be used to check machine maintenance, how artificial intelligence (AI) can be used for safety at the workplace and finally jumped to Cortana and a bunch of new smart speakers before getting back to Azure.

The packaging of products like Your Phone and the company's Android launcher are apps that deliver value to those that are "all-in" in the Microsoft ecosystem but the company does not have an easy way to market these benefits.

Elsewhere, Microsoft is bringing its speech recognition tech to developers with the new Speech Devices SDK.
