Cavaliers' Rodney Hood reportedly refused to enter Game 4 for garbage time

Cleveland Cavaliers guard Rodney Hood refused to enter the game in the fourth quarter during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, reports The Athletic.

It was disheartening watching Hood play in those first three games.

Hood was the only player on the Cavs' bench that did not see action in Game 4, and it was reported by The Athletic that several of his teammates were angry after Hood refused to check into the blowout win.

"Rodney, he could be better", Lue said before Game 4.

"Hood refused to go in, multiple sources confirmed".

The Cleveland Cavaliers completed a sweep of the top-seeded Toronto Raptors on Monday night thanks to an impressive performance from the team's role players.

He can be a restricted free agent this offseason, and his chances at a lucrative deal could be damaged by his struggles during the playoffs. A number of veterans huddled around him during the timeout and tried talking sense into him, but Hood still refused to go, so Jose Calderon subbed into the game instead. Cavaliers general manager Koby Altman will reportedly meet with Hood in an attempt to get Hood's perspective on the matter. Hood spoke to team officials about the incident Tuesday and will not be disciplined, said the person who spoke to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation.

Hood, who was the only member of the Cavs not to log any minutes last night, only played in 39 minutes through the first three games, scoring just two points on 1-of-9 shooting.

In the short-term, Hood faces a fine or suspension for conduct detrimental to the team, Lloyd posited, but at the very least you would expect him to remain out of the rotation for the foreseeable future.

Originally taken in with the 23rd overall selection of the 2014 NBA Draft out of Duke, Hood was acquired from the Utah Jazz at the trade deadline as part of the Cavs' radical roster makeover.
