UFC 224 Start time Preview at Brazil

The day has arrived for UFC 224.

All of Amanda Nunes' wins in her homeland have ended early, but challenger Raquel Pennington has a history of going the distance. In the co-main event, in middleweight action, No. 2 ranked Ronaldo "Jacare" Souza takes on No. 5 ranked Kelvin Gastelum. Can Pennington pull off a major upset? Who will move closer to the middleweight title? With that said, I don't think it's happening.

Riding a four-fight win-streak, however, including her most recent victory over former champion Miesha Tate, Pennington is not to be underestimated. Nunes took her down and landed hammerfists until the bout was stopped.

What also will help Raquel Pennington against Amanda Nunes is her will.

The biggest praise for Raquel Pennington is how strong and tenacious she is.

The victor of this fight will most likely get the opportunity to fight for the victor of Whittaker vs. Romero for the belt. While Gastelum will turn 27 this fall, Souza turns 39 just before the winter.

Souza isn't going to be any easier to handle on the ground. On the flip side, if Gastelum keeps it standing then the fight should be his. Given the "home-field" advantage, I do think he will walk away the victor here at UFC 224, but I wouldn't be shocked to see Kelvin catch Souza cold.

"I think that would be an awesome next step for MMA as a sport, to openly welcome male athletes to come out as well, but that's not just mixed martial arts, that's sport across the board", says combat sports journalist Nick Peet.

What are we to make of Mackenzie Dern? Dern has had three of her six wins via submission, which is coincidentally how Cooper has sustained all three of her losses. But even with such drastic weight gap, Dern's opponent, Amanda Cooper, will still accept the fight.

"Obviously, you're going to get the occasional person who is going to be hard or insecure about their feelings towards somebody else's sexuality, but I think, for the most part, they would be celebrated and respected, for openly owning their sexuality in a very masculine environment", says Dan.

A Colorado native, Pennington tried to get Nunes to the floor throughout the bout but managed to convert only one takedown. She will be the villain in this fight since she is fighting the home favorite.

Brian Kelleher will know if he can rise to the occasion tonight. Only the top of the food chain have really given Lineker significant problems on the feet. Ultimately, I believe this will go to a decision and Nunes will win in Brazil.

This is set to be Vitor Belfort's swan song.

From Michael Bisping to Vitor Belfort to Johnny Hendricks to Nate Marquardt he's made a habit of being the grim reaper to old folks careers.

"I'm done, I want to be done", Pennington said. Machida stopped a three-fight losing streak by defeating prospect Eryk Anders in his last bout.
