'Lethal Weapon' Renewed with Seann William Scott In and Clayne Crawford Out

The network announced Sunday they were picking up the action drama once more, but that Crawford was out as Martin Riggs following incidents of bad behavior on set. Riggs was a dream role and the experience will live with me forever.

"Lethal Weapon" airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on Fox.

Seann William Scott was ultimately selected after approaching other actors for the role.

Fox on Sunday renewed Lethal Weapon for a third season, with Seann William Scott (American Pie) filling the void created by Crawford's dismissal and joining the drama in a new role opposite Damon Wayans. Kate Arthur of Buzzfeed reports that one of the reasons FOX opted to renew the series without Crawford was to "make the point that bad behavior will get you fired".

Fox has chose to bring back Lethal Weapon, but not its star. After clashes on set between star Clayne Crawford and Wayans, Crawford was sacked - and the show was in jeopardy. Another said, "That no official words have been spoken, just rumors spread by the tabloids". "Matt Miller (showrunner), his incredible team and everyone at Warner Bros. have been tremendous partners, and we're thrilled to bring this show back for another season". He is to play a new character opposite series regular Damon Wayans in the series based on the film franchise of the same name.

Lethal Weapon is the second show to be renewed this weekend; Fox had canceled the Andy Samberg comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, though NBC saved the show Saturday as part of their midseason 2019 plans. Crawford apologized and provided details of the incidents in an Instagram post: In one, he "reacted with anger" when he felt the safety of cast and crewmembers was at risk during the filming of an episode, and in another, an actor was hit with a piece of shrapnel while Crawford was directing an episode.

"Lethal Weapon" viewers can say goodbye to Clayne Crawford and hello to Seann William Scott! I hope I'm not fired! In the days that followed, Crawford retweeted notes of support from past co-stars praising his professionalism.
