Neuer Makes Germany’s World Cup List As Sane Excluded

Germany boss Jogi Low has sprung a major surprise with his World Cup squad, by omitting Leroy Sane.

Manchester City winger Sane was expected to travel to Russian Federation after an impressive campaign that concluded with him being named the PFA Young Player of the Year.

Sane contributed 14 goals to the City cause during a record-breaking campaign, while also providing 17 assists across England's top-flight and the Champions League.

However, despite his talent, Sane was not included in Low's Germany 23-man squad travelling to Russian Federation this month to compete in the World Cup.

The Manchester City midfielder, goalkeeper Bernd Leno, forward Nils Petersen and defender Jonathan Tah were the four players that failed to make the cut from Loew's provisional list.

Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan and Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil have all been named in the squad.

Goalkeeper Manuel Neuer - who hadn't played a competitive game since September until the friendly loss to Austria on Saturday - was included in the squad for the tournament in Russian Federation.

"Julian Draxler, Marco Reus and Thomas Müller are set". Leroy has a huge talent.

"It was a very close decision".

The 'keeper said his careful reintroduction had been a deliberate ploy - he didn't play a single match for Bayern before joining up with the national squad. "If it was a 100m race, it would have been a photo finish".

'It's as if you are stood at the check in desk for your flight to Moscow, but are then prevented from boarding'.

Germany takes on Mexico, Sweden and South Korea in Group F, as Germany look to defend the World Cup which they won in 2014.
