The rules came under celebrity scrutiny past year when Downton Abbey creator Julian Fellowes, himself holding the title Baron of West Stafford since 2011, criticised the lack of change when the title of Baron Braybrooke passed to a distant cousin after his death, bypassing all eight of his daughters. Which means Princess Charlotte, 7, takes her position as fourth in line to the throne.

The queen can do the same for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, as she also did it for Prince Andrew, making Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice princesses rather than making them Lady Eugenie and Lady Beatrice. None of his eight daughters, led by Amanda Murray, inherited the title.

"It would have been extremely intimidating for anyone, but Meghan and Harry really did a marvelous job of preparing her (with) what to expect".

And the title will die out completely if the couple have only girls.

There were already changes made regarding male and female heirs in the Succession to the Crown Act 2013.

However, Harry's grandmother Queen Elizabeth II has the power to change this - like she did for Prince William and Kate Middleton's children. "She doesn't want 70 years of hard work to be for nothing".

A statement from Kensington Palace said: "When gifts are accepted, the consent of the Member of the Royal Family should be contingent upon the enterprise undertaking not to exploit the gift for commercial purposes. One can't just brush them aside", he explained.

Before Meghan's visit, however, Harry and Meghan will be appearing on the balcony at Buckingham Palace on Saturday 9 June for Trooping The Colour celebrations, which celebrates the Queen's birthday.

A few of Meghan Markle's former "Suits" co-stars open up about the royal wedding day and share their favorite moments.

Harry, 33, and Meghan, 36, tied the knot at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle on May 19 in front of 600 guests.
