‘Kaala’: Makers release ‘Kannamma’ song from Rajinikanth’s film

Much to the disappointment of ardent fans, theatres have not screened the film.

Superstar Aamir Khan says he is a huge fan of Tamil megastar Rajinikanth and can not wait to watch his latest release "Kaala".

Producer and distributor Kanakapura Srinivas told The New Indian Express that he was getting 250 theatres to agree to screening of the film from Friday onwards.

"This is HUGE! #Kaala is the FIRST ever Indian film to be released in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia!", Wunderbar Fims, the production company owned by actor Dhanush and his wife Aishwarya said on Twitter. Armed with the recent High Court order directing the government "to take adequate steps to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the screening of the film", Karnataka's film distributors have made a decision to go ahead with the release.

Reports from Mysuru said the screening of the film was delayed by movie houses due to protests. Protestors held demonstrations outside theatres in Bengaluru asking fans to not watch the show.

In other parts of the state, cinema hall owners in Mysore, Mandya, Raichur, Belgaum and Chikkaballapura districts did not screen the movie. The film is facing a "ban" in the state over Rajinikanth's remarks on the controversial issue of sharing of Cauvery river water between the neighbouring states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. "But we hope they have a great story to be shared, which may be liked - and the film does well", he is quoted as saying.

Earlier, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had suggested voluntarily backing off from the release in view of the sentiments of the protesters.

Movie theatres are adorned with grand posters and hoardings of Rajinikanth's film and it's no less than a festival for fans of Rajinikanth worldwide today. He also appealed to the state film chambers in Kannada.
