Trump says doctors ordered Melania not to travel with him

The latest criticism is the First Lady's absence from President Trump's upcoming trips to the G7 summit in Canada and his meeting with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un in Singapore next week.

"Can't fly for one month, the doctors say", the President said.

The commander in chief's remarks follow a prolonged absence from the public eye by his wife after a May 14 embolization procedure to "treat a benign kidney condition", according to the White House.

She spent five days in the hospital before returning to the White House.

Stephanie Grisham, a spokeswoman, has declined to provide additional details, citing the first lady's right to medical privacy.

Later that day his wife appeared with him at the Federal Emergency Management Agency headquarters, where they received a briefing on the 2018 hurricane season.

Mr Trump added that the United States first lady is "doing great". "She is a great First Lady", he continued.

Two White House journalists said they were present when the first lady was spotted on May 30, and reported at the time that she looked well.

The Trumps' marriage has been a source of endless speculation for his opponents. "Thank you to the Gold Star families that joined us in celebration & remembrance", the tweet said.

"The procedure was successful and there were no complications", the statement read.

"I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing", the first lady tweeted last week. "Right there!" Trump said while pointing to the White House residence. During her recovery from surgery, they reported everything from near death, to a facelift, to left the W.H.

This made her husband rush to Twitter to defend her and slam "Fake News" conspiracies.

She spent almost a week in the hospital and was rarely seen since.

The President's revelation of the length and severity of what he described as Melania Trump's "operation", paints the embolization procedure as considerably more complex and serious than initially described.
