The first team will focus on the area south of the highway.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.


"We've got hot, dry and windy conditions", Helmerick said. The homes that are threatened about 129 kilometres southeast of Salt Lake City are not primary residences.

But because of how sparsely populated the area is, and how diligently fire crews are working to protect homes, there have been no reports of any structures lost to the County Fire. People in Napa County are being told to evacuate.

On its website, the city cited mandatory evacuations in the area, poor air quality and smoke covering the town as the reason for canceling the event.
