Humane Society Sees Increase in Strays During Fourth of July Holiday

Americans celebrated their nation's 242nd anniversary of independence on Wednesday, with concerts, parades and a voracious display of hot dog-eating prowess in NY, as many cities and towns prepared for traditional fireworks displays after sundown.

Cookouts, pool parties, family, friends, and something that never fails to make an appearance on the Fourth of July: FIREWORKS! This is an ongoing list.

Although several venues have celebrated with fireworks preceding July 4, there are several locations in Maryland that have taken the liberty of setting off day-of fireworks in celebration of America's independence. The show, among the most renowned in the country, will last about 25 minutes.

SummerFest SMTX 2018: The 38th annual SummerFest features music from The Revs and Wyzer, as well as a children's patriotic parade and costume contest.

Indian Head fireworks will commence at 9:10 Village Green Park. Please start lining up at 10:00 and the parade will start promptly at 10:30 a.m.

Washer tournament starting at 4 p.m.

Stearns Wharf is keeping its music line-up and family-friendly fun from 11 a.m. until the fireworks begin. Nonetheless, those states have gone further than IL in allowing their residents the freedom to responsibly use consumer fireworks.

Marietta - July 4 - Marietta's Fourth in the Park celebration starts at 10 a.m., and includes a parade, free live concerts, museum tours, arts and crafts shows, food and carnival games, and it all leads up to a grand fireworks finale. Live music begins at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks will begin at 9:45 p.m. Pets, tents, sparklers, outdoor cooking and drones are not permitted.

Columbia - No fireworks can be discharged before 9 a.m. and no fireworks shall be discharged after 10:30 p.m. with the exception of New Year's Eve when the discharge of fireworks will cease at 12:30 a.m.

Don't take your pet to parades or fireworks displays or leave your pet in the vehicle at a fireworks show. On July 4 and December 31, fireworks can be shot until 1 a.m. Entertainment, food for purchase, vendors, fitness activities and more will culminate with a spectacular fireworks show at night.

If you have an outside dog, make sure the fence is secure and there are no areas your dog can get out. Fireworks should only be handled by a responsible adult who is not drinking alcohol. Event starst at 6 p.m. and ends at 9:15 p.m.

Pierre Claeyssens Veterans Foundation is again pleased to be hosting the 55th annual Fourth of July Parade along State Street and the free evening concert at the Santa Barbara Courthouse Sunken Gardens. Prices do not include sales tax.
