LA City Councilman Calls for End to ICE

Does abolishing ICE mean open borders? It's short enough to fit on a bumper sticker - as does "Build the Wall", or "Abolish the IRS".

Ice is not the agency conducting family separations at the USA border.

Meanwhile, President Trump has been ratcheting up his rhetoric on Twitter about ICE.

Finally, local police also fear the community will stop reporting and cooperating with crime-fighting efforts if police and ICE become indistinguishable.

If it's a useful slogan for Democrats, why are Republicans thrilled? If the Trump admin insists on continuing the whole detention/deportation thing, the ICE agents believe the best move is to separate the serious work they do so they operate without being guilty by association.

Over the weekend and into this week, Trump tweeted about it repeatedly, saying Democrats want to get rid of ICE so they can have open borders and more crime. "They want to send people home who just cross the border, and they don't see asylum as just having violence in a country, but really asylum being for people who are being politically persecuted", he said. In an interview with Fox News that aired Sunday, Trump said he was thrilled that some Democrats were adopting this new rallying cry and signaled he would use it against them as often as possible.

"This is ugly and this is wrong and this is not the way to run our country", she said.

"Many Democrats are deeply concerned about the fact that their 'leadership" wants to denounce and abandon the great men and women of ICE, thereby declaring war on Law & Order, ' Trump wrote in yet another tweet Tuesday morning.

However, the immigration issue is a tricky one in this area and cuts several different ways politically.

Those were the five words most often used by US voters to describe President Donald Trump's now-discontinued policy of separating children from their parents when they crossed the USA border from Mexico in search of asylum, according to a new Quinnipiac University poll. But if a new poll is correct, it appears the Trump administration, after an enormously damaging few weeks, has ended up squarely on the side of the majority of American voters.

It was a heartless and poorly planned exercise aimed at discouraging would-be immigrants from countries south of us from illegal entry.

The poll found 60 percent agreed with Trump's argument that Democrats are more interested in 'exploiting the nation's immigration issue for political gain, ' compared to 34 percent who said Democrats are more interested in 'resolving the nation's immigration issue'. Many lawmakers privately agree with these boosters. Let us create a humane and rational immigration system.

The president claimed that ICE agents have "liberated" towns across the country by arresting criminal illegal immigrants and members of the violent MS-13 gang during routine raids.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., took a break from plagiarizing recipes for a Pow Wow Chow cookbook to lend her support. Senator Kamala Harris is also in favor of "critically re-examining" the agency. Seven percent of Democrats cited immigration as their top concern. But ICE is actually two agencies: the Enforcement and Removal Operations division, or ERO, and Homeland Security Investigations, or HSI. It employs more than 20,000 people.
