And the fun continues today. Reddit engineers initially stymied the mod's requests to ban half of all members because such an undertaking "could potentially cause some headaches with our databases", partially because moderators can't be banned from their own subreddits.

The subreddit r/thanosdidnothingwrong (firstly, wow, not cool) is now home to 625,584 users, but half will be banned with a click of a mouse button. On July 5 the subreddit was at 360,000 subscribers.

Now, even Josh Brolin, the actor behind Thanos, has chimed in with his support by snapping his fingers at Reddit.

Joe Russo took to the forum Sunday afternoon to post a video of Brolin laying down shirtless delivering the snap that would wipe out half the followers. "But because the movie is so big and so propulsive, it just wasn't quite pushing us where we needed to go", said Anthony Russo, co-director of the film, on the scene with the Guardians. The Infinity War tribute page is now trending and gaining even more attention than it ever though it was going to. Playing off of the popular fan theories for Avengers 4, the Soul World and Soul Stone are new subreddits where everybody who was banned can go and discuss getting turned to dust.

The Avengers 4 gets released May 3, 2019. Those who make it through the slaughter like in the film, will remain in the subreddit. As previously noted, the mass user ban will take place tomorrow, July 9th. "He told me that doing a massive ban the day before July 4 was a awful idea, because many of Reddit's engineers would be out with their families". We'll be able to see if everything is "perfectly balanced, as all things should be", in a few hours.
