Game of Thrones finale in 'first half' of 2019

HBO has decided to make their fans wait over a year for the final season of Game of Thrones, but I'm not complaining.

He did, however, offer this tiny soundbite: "It's pretty great". The sooner the show's eighth season begins, the sooner the show ends forever.

Goldman is serving as showrunner and will executive produce alongside Martin as well as fellow Game of Thrones executive producer Vince Gerardis and co-creator/executive producer Daniel Zelman (Damages, Bloodline). Plus, examining the previous premiere dates of the past seasons indicates that HBO likes to go for a slot around April, with season 3 premiering as early as March 31st, 2013 and season 6 on April 24th, 2016. Bloys said the backlash wasn't as big as some publications made it seem.

Last month, Martin confirmed that none of the characters or actors from the current Game of Thrones series will be appearing in the prequel since it is set ten thousand years before the events of Game of Thrones. Yup, that's right, the next season will air in the first half of 2019.

"My only news for you today is that it's greenlit", Bloys said of the movie based on the 1800's historical drama series.

The first five seasons of the show were adaptations of Martin's novels A Game of Thrones, A Clask of Kings, A Storm of Swords, A Feast For Crows and A Dance with Dragons. We recently reported that production may be getting underway on the spin-off series this October, which comes from Jane Goldman and has received the go-ahead for a pilot by the network.

"When I say we're hoping to go into production in 2019, we have to find a director, we have to cast it", Casey added.

In addition, an untitled Game of Thrones prequel project is looking to start in the new year!
