Jennifer Lopez to Receive 'Video Vanguard Award' at the 2018 VMAs

This year at the MTV Video Music Awards, Jennifer Lopez will receive the night's highest honor as she is to be the recipient of the prestigious Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

"I grew up on MTV and watching all my idols get this award".

Previous winners include Jackson, David Bowie, Beyonce and Kanye West. This marks the first time a Latin artist has been on the receiving end of this award that was first introduced in 1984.

Lopez, who will give a live performance during the August 20 event, appeared in a Facebook Live segment, where she called the honor "amazing". Jennifer received two VMAs nominations this year for her "Dinero" music video, which is an absolute trash of a song. Being the recipient is like - I can't even believe it.

She previously won Best Dance Video "Waiting for Tonight" in 2000, and Best Hip-Hop Video "I'm Real" in 2002. This year, it's going to Jennifer Lopez.

On the show, she also had some good advice to share with the audience after one of her fans, Heidi, asked what she would tell young women who want to be successful. "Their videos inspired me to do the videos that I did", she said.
