L'Équipe report this morning that Lyon remain confident of their ability to land Colombian worldwide central defender Yerry Mina.

There had been talk of an agreement between Barcelona and Everton, but the Catalans have denied it.

Reports last week claimed that United were close to securing Mina's services but now Sport reports that Everton have stolen a march on their Premier League rivals to sign the Barcelona centre back for a fee of €32m. And with Barcelona looking to sell the star, six months on and with his market value skyrocketing thanks to the World Cup, Mourinho was keen to have the star.

It is also claimed Mina has agreed a five-year deal with the Premier League club and is closing in on a switch to Goodison Park.

United were leading the race to sign the South-American player, but negotiations have stalled making it possible for Marco Silva to land one of his primary transfer targets.

Capped 59 times by Argentina, the 28-year-old could end up forging a stellar partnership alongside Yerry Mina.

Jair Mina also said that if the United deal did fall through, Everton would be the most likely alternative destination.

Manchester United have reportedly received a huge boost in their chase to sign Tottenham's Toby Alderweireld after he's said to want to leave. Still, with the Bundesliga window remaining open until the end of August, don't expect this to be the last you hear on the matter.

Mina is now 8/11 from 7/4 for Old Trafford move with Betway.

Since starring on his Premier League debut at the age of 16, Oxford has found first-team opportunities limited, spending time on loan with Reading and Borussia Monchengladbach.
