Simon Belmont, the vampire hunter of Castlevania, is joining the roster of Super Smash Bros.

The Direct ended for the day with a final trailer, announcing the arrival of Donkey Kong's arch-rival, King K. Rool. In addition to Richter Belmont, two other Echo fighters in the game are Chrom from the Fire Emblem series (Echo fighter for Roy) and Dark Samus from the Metroid games (Echo fighter for Samus).

The game will feature 103 stages, or 100 if Battlefield/Big Battlefield/Final Destination are excluded, and all stages are unlocked from the start. Ultimate roster! Previously-selected fighters will no longer be available, forcing you to move beyond your favorites as the competition continues.

"Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is one of the biggest games Nintendo has ever released", said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America's Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. We haven't had one of those since The Subspace Emissary in Super Smash Bros. We'll keep you posted on any and all Smash news until then.

The My Music mode has been expanded to allow any music from the game series to be used on a thematic stage (eg: any Zelda theme can be used on Hyrule Castle). There's also a new Stage Morph option where you chose two stages so your match alternates between them during the fight.

Game director Mashiro Sakurai gave viewers a deep dive into some game modes the new title will have to offer when it launches on December 7 for the Nintendo Switch. Rathalos is the first character in Smash history that can show up as both an assist trophy and a boss character in single-player modes. When it comes to choosing music, the library you have available will be tied to the stage and the franchise it comes from.

Nintendo is including a 3V3 and 5V5 elimination mode for tournaments.

To make up for the gaping hole left by Luigi's omission in the game and the parallel Nintendo Universe, the game developers are offering 4 new playable character for the upcoming launch. Training mode is even improved, featuring an exclusive stage that features a grid that helps determine the distance and trajectory of abilities and fighter knockback.
